Google is having a tough start with the redesigned Android Auto. In January with the latest update to Android Auto 5.0.002 they released new features such as being able to mute notifications while driving and display weather information in the status bar.

Being able to mute notifications is a nice little feature but users have reported that this would disable being able to accept/decline calls from the steering wheel. On top of this in a recent report by 9to5 Google, Android Auto’s support for Google Assistant routines has been broken since 2018.
While a 9to5 Google follow up report says that Google is aware of routines not working, Google has released Android Auto 5.1.5006 which should hopefully fix the steering wheel issue.
