According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple is currently developing a feature for the iPhone and Apple Watch to detect if you have been in a car crash with the ability to dial 911 automatically.

While vehicles equipped with connected services like GM’s OnStar offer features like this already, but by having this feature tied to your mobile phone it is a much cheaper service with no need to install anything into your car.

For Android users, Google has the Personal Safety app on Pixel phones that includes this same feature to call for help if a crash is detected.

Look for this feature to be available sometime in 2022.
