In what has turned out to be a busy few months for Google Maps starting with the addition of Apple CarPlay compatibility, Google has also refreshed the design on Android Auto.

Most noticeable change is the redesign of the home screen of Google Maps. In a more logical placement, the search bar moved from the right side to the left side of the screen. In addition they removed the menu button and replaced it with a Settings button on the bottom left. They also moved all of the status icons to the right side.
While it might take some getting used to the new layout, the new design does provides a more intuitive and cleaner user experience. To read more about all of the updates, head over to Android Police where they give an extensive breakdown.
